Summer Time Away – August 14 – September 6, 2023

Dear Grace United Church,

This year, summer arrived with vengeance, and the weather has been as unpredictable as life itself. It seems summer is lingering, yet it is almost running away.

I do not know if it is “coming out of COVID” or what, but this summer seems to be busier than ever before for the ministry we share together, and I am ever grateful.

Today, August 13, we will celebrate the Sacrament of Baptism and officially welcome members to this Community of Faith. When I tell people that summer is one of the busiest seasons of the year, they don’t believe me, just because they are away on their own vacations. This is all good. Truly I’d rather be busy in the summer, when no ice storms are in sight. But then again, with our climate changing, who knows what to expect from Mother Nature.

All this is to say that I have reserved some time away from my daily tasks as vacation so that I can try to rest and rejuvenate. Therefore, I will take vacation time from August 14 – September 7 and spend time with my family – clean up clutter and take care of things at home that get neglected otherwise.

We are so fortunate to have Liz Church to lead worship celebrations on August 20, 27, and September 3. Please Invite a friend or two, a family member, or a neighbour, and come and hear the Word of Life and be Rejuvenated by the Living Water, through another beloved voice. And should there be any pastoral care needs, again my sister through Christ, Liz Church, has offered to step in. You may reach her at +1 (902) 441-5357 or by e-mail: lizchurch1@hotmail.com

I remain your spiritual leader and God’s servant-daughter,
Rev. Takouhi Demirdjian-Petro
Incumbent Minister
